These are the three principles on which I run my investment advisory business.
I believe that the first job of an investment advisor is to Preserve
Capital before any thing else.
It is much easier to make money when you work to not lose money. Now, in some markets, there will be loss of capital, it is unavoidable. I believe it is the investment advisors’ job to be aware of times when it is better to be out of the market then to be always invested and to always strive to minimize loss of capital.
I believe the next thing an investment advisor should do is Manage Risk in an
investment.
Again, like the first principle, an awareness on the advisors part is needed.
And after the first two items are taken care of, the last job for an investment advisor is to Promote Growth.
